The Science of Learning Research Centre is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the International Science of Learning Conference – Research to Reality in Brisbane, Australia, from the 18th to the 20 September, including a 2-day research conference on the Science of Learning and a 1-day public forum on Wednesday 20 September.

PASCAL Conference 2018 - The Role of Lifelong Education in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The 15th PASCAL Conference will be held in Korea on 30-31 August 2018. The venue is the city of Suwon, part of metropolitan Seoul, Korea. The co-organiser is the GyeonggiDo Provincial Institute of Lifelong Learning (GILL).  The main theme of this first East Asia PASCAL Conference is "The Role of Lifelong Education in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.  

A European lens upon adult and lifelong learning in Asia

In this article, we seek to assess the extent to which adult and lifelong learning policies and practices in Asia have distinctiveness by comparison to those found in western societies, through an analysis of inter-governmental, national and regional policies in the field. We also inform our study through the analysis of the work of organisations with an international remit with a specific focus on Asia and Europe. In one case, the Asia–Europe Meeting Lifelong Learning (ASEM LLL) Hub has a specific function of bringing together researchers in Asia and Europe.

Particularly worth noting in this edition are calls for papers or proposals relating to: the International Congress on Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) in Winterthur/Switzerland and UALL 2018 on "Opportunities for lifelong learning in a changing world" in Cambridge UK (see Conferences), the VET Research Award of the European Commission 2017 and the ESREA seminar on pioneers in European adult education in Paris (see Networks and Organisations), the two Winter Schools "Comparative studies in adult education and lifelong learning" in Würzburg/Germany and "International Perspectives on Education Policy (IPEP)" in Verona/Italy (see Programmes) and the CEDEFOP call for tender on the potential of work-based learning (see Projects).
