Open Science and the Decolonization of Knowledge

Our changing understanding of knowledge is something that PASCAL and its subscribers might want to give some thought to.  In the context of the forthcoming UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, our Chair in cooperation with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO has produced a brief, Open Science Beyond Open Access For and With Communities: A Step towards the Decolonisation of Science, which is featured below and attached.

On 23 September 2020, new members will join the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC). These cities are outstanding examples of how lifelong learning can become a reality at the local level. They have proven that effective lifelong learning policies and practices can support the development of inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and contribute to the 2030 Agenda.

Literacy programmes have suffered severely during the COVID-19 pandemic, yet adult literacy and education have been absent in many initial education responses. Even before the crisis, 773 million non-literate adults and young people were failing to acquire basic reading and numeracy skills.

ESOF 2020 Event, September 6th

Honored to represent Israel and the city of Modiin Maccabim Reut: Mayor- Mr. Haim Bibas, and Chairman of the Federation of Local Authorities in Israel, alongside Dr. Orna Mager, Director of the Multi-Disciplinary Center and developer of the Israeli Model and Network of Learning Cities in Israel, as they took an active role participating in the prestigious ESOF 2020 Event, on September 6th.
