We are very pleased to be able to report to PASCAL subscribers the activities of the learning city of Bandar Khamir in the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the International Day of Education 2022. A range of the activities that we promoted in the field of cultural and environmental education are featured in the attached documentation.

ALCN Ripples Newsletter - January/February 2022

In this newsletter, we welcome Benita Parsons and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and Caroline Jones and the City of Canning to our network. We also welcome Dr Donna Goldie, Townsville City Council, and farewell Judith Jensen, who worked tirelessly promoting Townsville’s learning community with PASCAL and ALCN for many years. We also say a big thank you to Jac Torres Gomez, who has been seconded to another area of Wyndham City Council for a short while.

PASCAL Conference 2022 - Tampere - 20-22 June - Registration and Programme

We are pleased to announce that the full programme and registration for the 16th PASCAL International Conference - Learning and Crises: Future-proofing City Responses, hosted by Tampere University is now available on the Conference website.

We are delighted to welcome the city of Thrissur, Kerala, India to PASCAL's Learning Cities Networks (LCN)

Thrissur is called the ‘Cultural Capital of Kerala’. Thrissur city hosts a large number of academic, research, training institutions supporting the learning needs of a wide range of people. Thrissur is a city that celebrates diverse skills and cultural activities. One of the leading businesses in the city is jewellery. Estimates suggest that the city produces 30 percent of India’s gold jewellery. This has earned the city the unofficial title of ‘Gold Capital of India’.

To kick off the new year, we would like to underscore the value of lifelong learning as expressed by members of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities on the occasion of the UN International Day of Education and through the great strides being made by prison libraries in Latin American countries.

The final report on the 2021 Global Learning Festival is now available

Another successful Global Learning Festival (GLF) has wrapped up for 2021. With over 95 live and recorded events delivered from across Australia, the USA, the U.K, Israel, Northern Ireland, Taiwan, Canada, Bangladesh, Kenya, Benin, Colombia, Finland, Italy, Lithuania, and Turkey, the 2021 GLF truly represented global learning.
