Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is one of the world's top 100 universities, and the European centre for PASCAL. By continuing to invest in internationally excellent research and by providing an outstanding learning environment for talented students from all backgrounds the aim of the University of Glasgow is not only to maintain this position, but to improve upon it, thereby retaining its status as one of the select number of institutions which are regarded as being the best in the world.

The university has a strong commitment to the city of Glasgow notably demonstrated by the School Education within the College of Social Sciences, host for PASCAL. Through work located within the area of Community Engagement in the School, the university seeks to improve the quality of adult education in Scotland, and the Glasgow area in particular, by undertaking leading-edge, internationally-competitive adult education research and development, while offering a challenging student-centred learning environment. This part of a leading international university brings global knowledge and practice to local and national adult education, aiming also to sustain and add value to Scottish culture and society, to the natural environment and to the national economy.

The School of Education is one of the world’s largest providers of university-level adult education, with an annual recruitment of 7000 students at all levels from pre-undergraduate to doctoral, and is engaged in constant curriculum development. In addition to PASCAL, the School hosts a dedicated Centre for Research and Development in Adult and Lifelong Learning (CRADALL), and is engaged in many reseach and development projects internationally.
