World Cities Day: 31 October 2018

The United Nations has designated every 31st October as World Cities Day. The day is expected to greatly promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization, push forward cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities and addressing challenges of urbanization, and contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.

Sustainable Futures in Africa (SFA) Network

We are pleased to announce that we have secured almost £100,000 to continue the work of the Sustainable Futures in Africa (SFA) Network from funding allocated to the University of Glasgow from the Scottish Funding Council to support work within the Global Challenges Research Fund. SFA is an interdisciplinary collective established in 2016 bringing together researchers, educators, and communities across 4 African countries and the UK.

Growth of the Placemaking Movement

Learning cities and placemaking share much in common in the aspiration to build better human-centred cities. The placemaking movement has grown from a small organization in New York named the Project for Public Spaces (PPS) to a large international movement across 3,000 communities in 47 countries.
