We are now in a position to announce a series of events, starting in Wales and moving to England (Wolverhampton), Scotland (Glasgow) and Northern Ireland (Ulster). The intention is to make the network as accessible as is possible and thus share our collective ideas and passions for inclusive outreach/Lifelong Learning.

Big Tent Consortium affirms commitment and responsibilities of universities worldwide

Our networks of higher education institutions and civil society organisations have been shocked by recent tendencies towards xenophobia and even racism; and especially by the recent US government decision to prevent individuals from seven predominantly Muslim countries entering that country for 90 days. This action affects community members, workers, students, faculty and staff all over the world.

Global crisis engages universities and community partners - Big Tent Consortium issues call to action to partners worldwide

The Big Tent Consortium, a global network of universities and their community partners today issued a call to action to its members to oppose the Jan. 27 US travel ban, join with other worldwide protests, and create spaces for dialogue within universities and communities everywhere. The call was part of a Consortium statement that responds to the US ban targeting citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries and which provides the latest evidence of growing Islamophobia and exclusionary trends around the world.

Al-Quds Open University in Palestine are working on the above project and they are looking for partners who can share their expertise in this field.

PASCAL Center for Latin America and the Caribbean - Summer Highlights, September: 2016

Tecnológico de Monterrey (Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Wikipedia) is the latest PASCAL Centre, and the first  Spanish-speaking country to join. Tecnológico de Monterrey was founded over 70 years ago and now has two dozen campuses in Mexico. This Update describes its dynamic programme of entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship, outreach and sharing of knowledge both within the country and internationally.

PASCAL SIG - Public Sector Interface: Competitiveness and the Economy, Issue One: March 2016

The purpose of this PASCAL Special Interest Group (SIG) is to examine the interface between PASCAL and the public policy sectors. While this topic is a very broad it cuts across sectors and issues, including innovative resource sharing and the role of institutions of higher education, and those organizations that develop policy. It includes the development of intercultural activity.

PASCAL Special Interest Groups

PASCAL is establishing a series of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to give focus to the advice required by the Board in particular areas.

The Groups will consist of 6 to 8 people, made up of academics and  practitioners in the public, private and NGO sectors and will have a wide geographical spread and gender balance so far as possible. The members of the Groups will serve for up to 3 years with the possibility of renewal and the Groups will report to the Board at least annually with the invitation to report more frequently when needed.

New UALL Community Research and Engagement Network

We are pleased to send you advance notice for the establishment of a new Network.  The main aims of the Community Research and Engagement Network are to:

  • Deliver a network which gives focus on community, participant based research
  • Develop a repository which captures and holds the breadth of such work
  • Acknowledge the innovative models of engagement which start with the diverse needs of participants – not educational providers or funders.
