From Cork to Cornell: University funds proposal by PASCAL subscriber to involve students in Learning Cities

Being at the UNESCO 3rdInternational Conference on Global Cities was a watershed experience.  I was simultaneously inspired by the robust, actionable hope manifested there, and utterly dismayed to learn there were no member cities from my own county, the USA.   At the conference I met Peter Kearns and Denise Reghenzani-Kearns, who told me about PASCAL, and I met local leaders of Cork City responsible for putting together such a magnificent conference.

Connecting Minds, Creating the Future - Expo 2020 Dubai: University Challenge

Random Acts of Wildness – Nature is needed for human social resilience

What is this you may ask?  Before you get too far into ‘wild’ imaginings, it’s simple: learn about nature, create wild spaces around you, and go and enjoy them outdoors.  Natural beauty is good for us as University of Derby researchers say in monitoring the Wildlife Trust’s 30 Days Wild challenge.  It’s the key to unlocking the benefits of wellbeing and happiness and you can engage through their App:  http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/30DaysWild/App.  In the UK, June is the month to “Go Wild”, we can do this too, anywhere!

Making Learning Happen - a report on the PASCAL event held at UCL, 4 May, 2018

The PASCAL seminar, “Making Learning Happen,” was well-attended by some 30 delegates from across Europe on 4 May 2018.  Thanks to kind generosity of LLAKEs (http://www.llakes.ac.uk) and its head, Professor Andy Green, we convened in a room at the UCL Institute of Education.  The seminar provided an opportunity for associates and key contacts - new faces and old friends - to discuss learning in cities and metro-regions and their links to rural hinterlands, and to shape future PASCAL work in Europe.
