Draft Declaration on Human Rights and Climate Change

The Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment (GNHRE), a major network of international human rights scholars, has issued around the world in a Draft Declaration on Human Rights and Climate Change ("The Declaration") ahead of the Paris Climate Summit beginning on 30 November.

In the history of social movements and social change not enough is said about a category of persons we might refer to as connectors.  Who are these people? Why are they important? Persons who are located outside the reins of power often lead social change.  For those ideas to enter into the corridors of power where chance has to happen, people are involved.

Call for papers - Special Issue of the International Journal of Knowledge-Based Development: Connecting Cities and Universities at Strategic Frontiers

This special issue will focus on strategic knowledge-based development frontiers in employment, migration, health, food security and climate change, and cultural engagement. These global issues pose problems at every level, down to micro-districts. They are strategic because what happens will determine the kind of cities and regions in which we will live. They are on the frontier because they generate conflict or could lead to greater co-operation. And they are critical to knowledge-based development because we do not know how to solve them; indeed, we do not even know how to cope with them very well, unsolved.

PASCAL's Learning Cities Networks, Rolling Workshop Series on Social Inclusion - Report from Glasgow - 18 September

As part of PASCAL's Learning Cities Networks Rolling Workshop Series on Social Inclusion, an event concerned with the Smart Campus and Inclusion was held at the University of Glasgow on 18th September 2015.  A group of some 30 people from within the university and the wider city attended the event.

Launching the European Digital City Index

Wednesday 21st October saw the launch of The European Digital City Index (EDCi) - an index which describes how well different European cities support digital entrepreneurship. It was produced as part of the European Digital Forum, which exists to support digital entrepreneurship and digital startups across Europe.
