We are very pleased that two of our Associate Directors in Europe, Balazs Nemeth and Roberta Piazza, are presenting at an ASEM LLL Hub Research Network 6 webinar on 21 September 2023 from 1000-1400 CET. The topic is the celebration in honour of UNESCO's Global Network of Learning Cities, which was initiated 10 years ago, and speakers also include former director of UIL, Arne Carlsen, and current deputy director Raul Valdes-Cotera. Both have been core to the success of the GNLC. We are also pleased that two of PASCAL's longstanding Learning City Network members, Pecs and Cork are strongly represented. PASCAL and its LCN are supporting the event.

Presentations by George Osborne, Manager Economic Development, Hume City Council, and Maren Klein, Research Fellow EU Centre of Excellence, RMIT will explore this topic from a practical and theoretical perspective.
An exciting international symposium on Museum and Heritage Education Futures will take place on September 13th at the University of Glasgow. The symposium has been organised by the Education in Museum and Heritage Education Consortium, including members of the Pascal Observatory and the Harnessing Museums, Heritage and Education Learning Cities Network. The symposium event is free and will take place in-person.

It has become imperative to develop university policies that view these institutions as true drivers of transformation in the political, economic, social, environmental and cultural spheres.
Unbalanced and rapid economic and industrial growth in all human societies has caused many harmful consequences to the environment and mankind. Such a harmful situation has caused the United Nations to pay attention to the strategic issue of sustainable development and the need to review and modify development policies and strategies in all countries, in the line with SDGs in the 2030 Agendas.
