New LCN members: Kigali and Santiago

Today we welcome two new cities to PASCAL’s Learning Cities Networks, Kigali and Santiago.

The city of Kigali in Rwanda is the country’s capital, and one of the fastest-growing in Africa, and very well known internationally. It already networks extensively with other cities around the work in mutual learning exchanges. This, for example, is evident in the event, Kigali, the learning laboratory for cities around the world, co-organised by the World Bank Group. It is one of the cities being studied within the UKRI-funded Centre for Sustainable Healthy Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods in collaboration with the University of Rwanda.

Santiago is situated within the Mexican state of Nuevo León de Monterrey, and has a strong vision for developing itself as is evident in its membership of UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities. We look forward to many future exchanges with both cities.
