Promoting Community Engagement for Vocational and Professional Education and Training - Hong Kong, 15 March 2018

This symposium on 15 March 2018 at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) discussed findings of two research studies. One was benchmarking research conducted in Hong Kong and European cities and the second, a General Research Fund (GRF) study[1] concerned the importance of partnerships and community engagement for Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET).

PASCAL - Twitter thought leader for the global placemaking movement

PASCAL's social media profile continues to rise! It was particularly pleasing to have been added to the list maintained by the high-profile New York based Project for Public Places of over 100 people and organisations who they regard as being leaders in the placemaking movement.  PASCAL has now been 'listed'  over 180 times by organisations and individuals on Twitter as an organisation whose tweets on topics of interest they wish to follow.

Network members may be interested in a new weekly curated paper #learningcities weekly .  It should appear every Wednesday.  It will bring into one place all those posts on Twitter which have used the #learningcities hashtag over the previous 7 days.  This should provide a wide range of news, analysis and commentary on different aspects of the development of learning cities, or information from which learning ciities might learn, drawn from around the world.

PASCAL, social media, and making more sense of what is out there

PASCAL's reach in social media continues to grow.  On Twitter (@obspascal) we are now well passed the 8000 posts, and we have over 1800 followers, a number that continues to grow steadily.  PASCAL has been listed 128 times at the time of writing. Our tweets feed through to the PASCAL Facebook page where we are also attracting an increasing number of fans.

Learning and the Resilience Dividend

Speaking in Glasgow recently, Judith Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Foundation, drew attention to Glasgow's role as one of the first cities selected to be part of the 100 Resilient Cities programme, pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation.

Atlantic Creative Cities to gather in Plymouth

On September 19, to coincide with the Ocean City Festival and the new round of European funding programmes, the city of Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art are hosting a meeting between stakeholders across the European Atlantic Sea Board, linked to the Creative and Cultural Industries.
