An insight into the extensive work of a community-driven initiative
Our meeting with Meiling and Haniff of the Multi-faith Multicultural Centre, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia provided an insight into the extensive work of this community-driven initiative linked to the Pure Land Learning College Association Inc., www.interfaith-harmony.org and https://www.facebook.com/MMC.Toowoomba/.
Peter Kearns, his wife Denise, and Professor Mike Osborne were in attendance, as well as local consultant, Michael Cuthill. Meiling and Haniff presented us with copies of "Building a Model City of Peace and Harmony in Toowoomba" and "One Humanity Many Faiths". In the first publication is an enlightening explanation of the Chinese word for religion: Zong Jiao. "Zong means vital, important and revered. Jiao means education, teachings and civilisation. When combined, Zong Jiao means the vital education, important teachings and revered transformation of humanity."
