Acireale as a learning city
On July 23 a meeting took place in the Palace of Tourism in Acireale, a beautiful city close to Catania, where the next PASCAL conference will be held in October. The meeting was arranged to promote the city of Acireale joining PASCAL's Learning Cities Networks (LCN) programme. The speakers were the city's planning councillor, Francesco Fichera, its advisor in the field of culture, Alfonso Sciacca, Filippo Gravagno, scientific director of the city development urban plan and Roberta Piazza, Associate Director of PASCAL in Europe.
The city of Acireale will participate at the PASCAL Conference in Catania, presenting a paper related to community-based activities conducted by researchers of the University of Catania. This research that concerns issues related to local government and citizenship will help define the future planning of Acireale as a learning city.
