Education and Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Development - ASPBAE report

This is the report of an Asia Pacific consultation held on 12 – 13 February 2015 by ASPBAE, the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education, the Department of Non-formal Education of the Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Regional Office for South and Southeast Asia of DVV International based in Vientiane, Lao PDR.4.

The presentations and discussions were rich in content, and covered a wide range of the Asia Pacific diversity. At that time it was seen as a preparation for the World Education Forum (WEF) which was held in Korea in May. However, the theme is of high actuality as the WEF came up with the Incheon Declaration to call for: “Education 2030: Towards inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all”. This will be carried to the UN Summit in September to declare the new Sustainable Development Goals.  During the same week of the regional consultation ASPBAE held its Executive Council meeting which was hosted in the compound of DVV International; both are longstanding partners for almost four decades.
