Recently we joined a Zoom presentation from Rotterdam, in conjunction with the Singapore Centre for Liveable Cities.  The discussion examined the urban design solutions for working and living that enable engagement in public places as well as ensure good management of climate change challenges.

PASCAL EcCoWell Community Recovery Program - Final Report

In this posting, we report on the PASCAL EcCoWell Community Recovery Program, which was conducted from March to October 2020 with attached an extensive edited report from Peter Kearns and Denise-Reghenzani-Kearns. The programme was developed to test whether EcCoWell ideas on integration and partnership would have value in supporting community recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Five learning cities, two learning neighbourhoods, and two universities participated in the program. Short profiles of participants are given in Appendix 1.

Network: Reimagining Inclusive Economic Futures

Mike Osborne, Director of PASCAL, introduced the meeting and explained that post-Covid, it was recognised that there was a need to re-energise the PASCAL Learning Cities Networks (LCN), and this was the first meeting for the “Reimagining Inclusive Economic Futures” (RIEF”) network. The PASCAL International Observatory works closely with the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) and has recently been running a series of joint webinars with UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning. PASCAL assists cities in developing their applications to join the GNLC and has a focus on the ways in which universities can support the development of Learning Cities. Mike invited all attendees to introduce themselves and to explain a little about the city, university, network or organisation they were representing.
