The world's most livable cities

A survey of the worl's most livable cities has been released by the lifestyle magazine Monocle. The survey wighs factors such as urban design, public transportation, access to nature, safety, international connectivity.

The surprising thing about the top 10 cities (1 Copenhagen, 2 Tokyo, 3 Melbourne, 4 Stockholm,5 Helsinki, 6 Vienna,7 Zurich, 8 Munich,9 Kyoto, 10 Fukuola) is the mix of small and large cities, with small cities such as Copenhagen and Zurich joing a very large city such as Tokyo and a mix of medium sized cities such as Vienna, Kyota, and Melbourne. This suggests that the relationship between size and livability is complex with very large cities such as Tokyo having the potential to advance livability objectives as much as smaller more intimate cities.
