Invitation to Join the Conversation on Faith, Spirituality, and Learning Cities at the PASCAL Conference (Oct 18, 2017)
Those interested in joining an international learning and research network on faith, spirituality, and learning cities are welcome to attend a gathering of the PASCAL Learning Cities Network Faith/ Spirituality-based Learning City Development group on October 18, 2017, at the 14th PASCAL Observatory Conference in Pretoria (Villa Africa Boutique Hotel). Time and meeting details will be sent upon inquiry to Dr. Maria Liu Wong ([email protected]) or Dr. Rob Mark (Rob[email protected]), who will be co-chairing this gathering.
The gathering's main purpose is to bring together interested scholars and practitioners in this area (which could include multi or inter-faith dialogue, faith/ spirituality perspectives on health, community development, the arts, psychology, education, theology, social justice, multiculturalism, peacebuilding, quality of life and sustainability) and create a network for learning, resource sharing, and collaboration. Highlights from previous meetings held in New York City and Cork will be shared, and this will move the network towards a core working group of interested participants who can engage in concrete collaboration through cooperative or comparative research, a rotation of blog postings to share learning, and other means. Other items to be discussed include an upcoming pre-conference session on Learning Cities at the International Transformative Learning Conference at Teachers College, Columbia University (Nov 7-10, 2017), and a call for papers from the journal, Adult Education Quarterly (AEQ). The call for the journal is attached.
Additional meetings of the network this year include a virtual meeting to be organized by colleagues at the University of Glasgow n November 2017.
