In collaboration with senior policy makers across the Scottish Cities Alliance, the Scottish Cities Knowledge Centre (SCKC) plans to produce an evidence-‐based set of policy recommendations for publication and high‐profile launch early in 2017.

Local policymakers have a critical role to play in developing more resilient and inclusive economies, particularly because they are well-positioned to take a more integrated approach to tackling complex challenges and seizing new opportunities. This requires local partners to collaborate and work closely in innovative ways, whilst also re-examining the relationship between local and national policymakers.
We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Adam Smith Research Foundation’s Research Programme for 2014-16, which concerns the theme of Social Precarity.
Time has changed many of Iowa’s rural communities. Strengthening these towns starts with understanding how social capital and leadership influence development in a small town. A group of Iowa State University researchers has tracked changes in quality of life and social capital in 99 Iowa towns since 1994. This month, they begin a third, two-year study to determine if the changes have continued.
