The "V. Science Camp Budapest 2021" was held from 29 Nov- 03. Dec. 2021 with a focus on sustainability, learning communities and social innovation. The event was hosted by the prestigious adult education institute Kossuth Klub, in strategic partnership with PASCAL under the patronage of the Hungarian National Commission of UNESCO. Young innovators were challenged to create the pilot project: BE A LEARNING CITIZEN!

International working groups focused upon and explored different aspects of learning cities throughout a week of exchange with experts in a dialogical approach. In this endeavour the camp sought to move from global vision to local actions. The Scientific director of the event Dr. Balázs Németh (University of Pécs, president of EUCEN, vice- director for PASCAL in Central and Eastern Europe PASCAL) and Ms Carmel Berendi, researcher, coordinator of the event (Doctoral School of Education Eötvös Lorand University, Budapest) together with committed young innovators facilitated the groups. “The Kossuth Klub welcomed talented students to the program from Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia. We are thrilled to learn their vision and innovation on a learning city." said Mr. Adam Gyenes, president, Kossuth Klub Association.

In particular on 29th November,  representatives from UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities and from PASCAL’s Learning City Netowork around the globe enriched the science camp with their valuable knowlegde and expertise, engaging in a learning exchange with participants (in a hybrid mode)
