Europe is living through its greatest refugee crisis since the Second World War. At the governmental level, responses to this crisis have created strains on the very ideas underpinning post-War solidarity. At the social level, responses have varied from welcoming to hostile.
Although the scale of migration in Europe is much greater, debates occasioned by migration and the consequent mixing of cultures and religion is germane to Australia. This public forum examines reactions to migration flows in Europe and Australia, the resulting tensions and models for their harmonious resolution.
