Report of Pecs Rolling Workshop on Cultural Policies
The report of the Pecs Hungary Rolling Workshop on Cultural POlicies in Learning Cities is now available and is attached. The report, written by Terez Kleisz who co-ordinated the workshop, is the third in the series of workshops on Cultural Policies in Learning Cities and follows workshops held i Ostersund Sweden and Gkasgow earlier this year. The reports of these workshops are also available on the PASCAL Networks web site.
The Pecs workshop adds to the insights emerging from the Ostersind and Glasgow workshops and confirms the importance of cultural policies and institutions for sustainable devewlopment in cities. The workshop noted the definition of sustainability from the Brundtland Commission that "development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" and identified a number of object8ives that contribute to sustainability.
It is expected that an overview report on the three Cultural Policy workshops will be prepared. A similar series of rolling workshops is being held by the InclusionNetwork and has commenced with a workshop in Townsville.
