Korean National Lifelong Learning Expo
The Korean Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Long Learning have collaborated in organising the 4th National Lifelong Learning Expo which is being held on 4-6 September in Seoul. The Expo is held annually as a space for learners and lifelong learning institutions to come together and share their learning experiences. This is a significant activity with some 250 institutions participating, 17 cities and provinces, and 136 learning cities involved and more than 50,000 learners participating.
The Expo in 2015 has an interesting theme "Joyful learning and lifelong learning together" so that happiness is clearlt associated with lifelong learning. While the Expo has its counterparts in the West in Learning Festivals in Cities such as Cork, Limerick, Bad Tolz, and Shanghai, and in Adult Learners Weeks in countries such as Endland and Australia, there are features oif the Korean Expo that merit study. There would, in fact, be value in a comparative study of these strategies for promoting lifelong learning in countries such as those I have mentioned. A paper along these lines would be particularly welcome for the 3-5 June PASCAL 13th International Conference in Glasgow. Anyone interested could contact me.
