In today's fast-paced world, the need for continuous learning among adults is more important than ever, particularly during times of crisis. This is a sentiment that the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) emphasised already 50 years ago, highlighting in their report ’Recurrent Education: A Strategy for Lifelong Learning (1973)’ (attached below).

Professor Budd Hall has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada

It is with great pleasure that we report that Professor Budd Hall has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition of 'his contributions as a pioneer in the field of Community-based research, and for his advancement of knowledge building and research capacity around the world'.

This award is administered on behalf of the sovereign, King Charles III, by the Governor-General of Canada and is how the country 'honours people who make extraordinary contributions to the nation'.

Over 140 countries call for right to lifelong learning to transform education at UNESCO conference

With the adoption of the Marrakech Framework for Action at the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education on 17 June 2022, representatives of over 140 countries committed to translating the vision of a right to lifelong learning into reality. They undertook to significantly increase adult participation in learning and recognized the need for increased financial investment in adult learning and education.
