Upcoming Springer publication on Entrepreneurial Learning City Regions
The Springer publication on “Entrepreneurial Learning City Regions” is in final stages of editing and should be available soon. The book has been edited by Judith James and Jean Preece (Swansea) and Raul Valdes-Cotera (UIL) and so represents a nice example of PASCAL and UIL collaboration. Raul and Arne Carlsen both have chapters in the book: Raul “Lifelong Learning for All: our city’s future; Arne “Prospects for developing entrepreneurial learning cities”.
On the PASCAL side, Mike Osborne, Denise Reghenzani-Kearns and I have chapters, along with Judith, Alyson Jenkins, Roberta Piazza, and Norman Longworth. Mike is on “Inclusivity and Lifelong Learning: an Introduction” and Denise and I on “Building Enterprising Learning Cities: the PASCAL International Exchanges (PIE) experience”. Our chapter on PIE is part historical and part reflective on the experience.
From the Springer review...
The main strength of this edited collection, in my view, consists in having taken a composite notion that was popular in urban studies and policy circles some years ago (the concept of entrepreneurial learning city-regions), thoroughly unpacked its different dimensions and sought to reassess with sufficient hindsight, its value as a framework for understanding the links between entrepreneurship, education, job creation and social inclusion in the context of territorial development.
We extend Judith and Jean our congratulations on this splendid initiative.
