Unbalanced and rapid economic and industrial growth in all human societies has caused many harmful consequences to the environment and mankind. Such a harmful situation has caused the United Nations to pay attention to the strategic issue of sustainable development and the need to review and modify development policies and strategies in all countries, in the line with SDGs in the 2030 Agendas.

ALCN Annual Report 2022-2023

This Annual Report summarises the work of the Australian Learning Communities Network (ALCN Inc.) and our place-based learning communities and cities. Also attached and featured below is a quick snapshot presentation by Associate Professor Jose Roberto (Robbie) Guevara, President of the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), who reflected on how the work of the network members aligned with the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities and the Marrakech Framework for Action in Adult Education and Learning (ALE).

Thrissur is called the ‘Cultural Capital of Kerala’. Thrissur city hosts a large number of academic, research, training institutions supporting the learning needs of a wide range of people. Thrissur is a city that celebrates diverse skills and cultural activities. One of the leading businesses in the city is jewellery. Estimates suggest that the city produces 30 percent of India’s gold jewellery. This has earned the city the unofficial title of ‘Gold Capital of India’.
