The Conference was attended by over 500 delegates including a large international delegation from many countries in Asia, North America, Europe and Australia. The Conference contained many elements, and these will be reported individually in a number of subsequent postings.

The Conference was co-organised and hosted by the Gyeonggi Do Provincial Institute for Lifelong Learning (GILL) and the Korean Academic Society for Lifelong Education from 30 August -1 September in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, and we are very grateful to these organisations for their very excellent organisation and hospitality.

The Conference was also supported by the Korean National Institute for Lifelong Education, Korean National Commission for UNESCO, and the Korean Society for the Study of Lifelong Education to whom we also offer our sincere thanks. We cannot imagine more supportive hosts. We are also thankful to Jeehay Park for her excellent co-ordination and to Professor Un Shil Choi for her unstinting support, including in arranging cultural tours and a Distinguished Scholars in Lifelong Learning Forum, which will be reported separately.
